the Dishonest Manager (vv. 1–15) addresses the proper use of money. This parable confronts the abuse of money, especially by the rich. It is a solemn warning. But even more, it warns us about the dramatic reversals that can come after death and also the terrors of Hell. It exposes the subtle causes of the callous indifference that people within the worshiping community sometimes show to the poor. Jesus did his best to wipe the sneers off the faces of those who brushed aside his teaching in the Parable
